60 minute run today… felt GOOD… BUT I got bigger news. Today is the start of a HUGE charity push through race day. Don’t want to hear about having to donate? Don’t talk to me! (I’m just joshin’). Really, though, everyone has been VERY supportive and has pledged to donate… and I THANK YOU for that. BUT having no online donation option has become a bit of a stumbling block. I’ve had the following conversation dozens of times:
ME: I’m running the Philly marathon and raising money for charity.
FRIEND: That’s great! Just send me the website so I can donate online!
ME: No donating online. You’ll have to write a check.
FRIEND: What?!?! I do everything online! Who writes checks? I don’t write checks anymore!
ME: Terrific! That means you have a lot of BLANK checks to give ME!
I’ve been very humbled/thankful for ALL the donations I’ve received thus far. It means a LOT to me and the money is being earmarked for GREAT causes! So let’s keep it going! Tonight… put TWO minutes aside. Address that envelope. Sign that check. Give to charity! I’m pretty sure that’s not a bad thing!!! We’re getting close to the race. Break out dem checks!!! Thanks so much! (Checks should be made payable to The 100 Mile Man Foundation, Inc. …. NOT to me!)

“True charity is the desire to be useful to others without thought of recompense.”
