Finally hit the weights last night at midnight… but that’s nothing new. Will sneak in a 30 minute run today before the Sabbath hits. Looks like the rain in NYC has finally let up… but running has not!!
Aside from all this physical preparation, I’ve also been conditioning myself mentally for the race… and for boredom! I’ve questioned (more than once!) what I’m doing when I run for hours on end. And aside from “3:11, 3:11, 3:11” running (!) in an endless loop through my brain, a big motivator has also been the constant repeat of “At least I don’t have to do an ultramarathon!”
Ultramarathon??? I learned about “ultras” last year. An ultra is any race longer than a marathon. It can be 50 miles. It can be 100 miles. THAT’S NUTS! Imagine finishing a marathon and being only a QUARTER done. I know a few people that have finished an ultra. They have incredible will power and are DEDICATED. But SO AM I! Here’s MY proof! (pump up the volume!)
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”
