Started at 9 PM last night with my usual night run to 96th and CPW and ended at 9:35 PM at Yogi’s Bar for Lawrence’s 25th! Spent 2 hours there with the old crew: Simon, Liron, Dave K., Yosef…. before heading back home and straight to the GYM! Long days. When my alarm went off at 5:45 AM this morning, I got up, shuffled toward it, muttered a “no way” and went back to sleep for an hour. Gotta get my rest to stay healthy for the next 30 days!
Today is a slight off day. Will get in the 30 minute night run, but will be slow. Will try for that 5:45 AM wake up call again tomorrow, but got to get my mind set on it! As Pee Wee said: “The mind plays tricks on you. You play tricks back!!!”
Our lesson on “what is a marathon?” continues. Here is the origin of the word itself.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The name marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek soldier, who was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. It is said that he ran the entire distance without stopping, but moments after proclaiming his message to the city he collapsed dead from exhaustion.
Oh no!! The CREATOR of marathons died after his FIRST run? This is not good news!
