“Ben, is 3:11 realistic?”
Was asked that question 3 times today. Have gotten that question 3 times a day for the past few months! My answer? “Yup! The charity goal too!” And it’s true. Both goals are very much in reach.
Anyway, on to training. Did 35 minutes in Central Park today and was intent on doing more until the Central Park pumpkin patch won me over! Thousands of pumpkins. All lit up at night. Some placed on structures three stories tall! Very cool. I hope they don’t have any pumpkin distractions in Philly! Some alarming news. Lately after runs I’ve had to take off my sneakers right when I get home because my feet have been swelling up and becoming really tight inside my Nikes. I suppose this is a result of putting hundreds of miles and pressure on my feet the past few months. Nothing too upsetting… but makes me wonder whether I should a. switch to my New Balance sneaks (wider) or b. buy a larger size Nike?
One more super weekend run tomorrow (13+ miles)… still peaking! This is the final big weekend and last intense week before I start my taper with two weeks left. There is an official New York Road Runner race in Central Park tomorrow, so I’ll be able to accurately time my miles by the marker flags. The longest I’ve run so far in one shot is around 20 miles. Which brings me to the bottom line:
“Anyone can run 20 miles. It’s the next six that count.”
